Salter HealthCare is pleased to announce that Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has been awarded a deficiency-free survey for 2013 by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health makes unannounced annual visits to health care facilities every nine to fifteen months to evaluate the facility’s compliance with state and federal regulations. The rigorous survey examines a multitude of quality, safety and performance issues including medication management, proper skin care, food service, environmental safety, and respect for patients’ rights and dignity.
Located at 223 Swanton Street, Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a 120-bed, skilled nursing facility providing short-term and traditional nursing services in newly renovated, gracious surroundings.
For the convenience of their short-term rehab patients, Winchester’s Rehabilitation Suite is located on the center’s lower level and has its own separate entrance and formal dining room. Licensed Physical, Occupational, Speech and Respiratory Therapists provide daily services utilizing state-of-the-art therapy equipment and a homelike kitchen for patients to practice activities of daily living before returning home. Special amenities available to short-term rehab patients include private rooms, in-room telephones and flat screen televisions with cable service, wireless Internet access, free parking, hairdressing/barber services, DVD/VCR player in our Pub, and an Emergency Call System.
The facility’s intensive skilled nursing programs include IV therapy, surgical aftercare, wound care, pain management and hospice care. Winchester also offers diverse therapeutic recreation programs including music, pet, and massage therapy to help the mind, body and soul prepare for a return to independent living.
According to Winchester’s Executive Administrator Shelley Silverman, RNC, NHA, “I’m so proud of our staff’s professionalism and dedication. It takes teamwork on every level to achieve deficiency-free status. Our team consistently demonstrates their commitment to providing excellent patient care, which is what our reputation has been built on for all these years.”
