
Salter HealthCare hosted a complimentary continuing education event for nurses and case managers on September 22 at their Winchester Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. An in-depth presentation of MOLST: “Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment” was made by Dr. Asif Merchant MD, FACP, CMD. Discussion topics included, Strategic methods to implement MOLST in skilled nursing facilities, How to navigate through the MOLST form and The Differences between the MOLST form and CC/DNR forms.
Dr. Merchant recently joined Salter HealthCare as an attending physician. He practices Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine and is the Chief of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, Massachusetts, a position he has held for four years. In addition, Dr. Merchant recently earned the title of President for the AMDA-Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, Massachusetts Chapter. Dr. Merchant’s dynamic capabilities and outgoing personality have led him to earn above-average patient satisfaction results.
